I am following up on a memo (attached) I sent to Interim Mayor Todd Gloria earlier this year requesting an RFP for the city-owned parcel located at 2183-2193 National Avenue. This parcel currently operates as a parking lot and is not leased to any particular organization.
Family Health Centers of San Diego (FHCSD) is also seeking a Request for Proposal by the Real Estate Assets Department to maximize the best public use for this parcel. The Department has confirmed that this site, entirely the property of the City of San Diego, is not under lease. Since this site is currently under use, the City is at risk and liable for anything occurring on this property.
In order to secure a mandated lease for this City property, the Real Estate Assets Department should issue a Request for Proposal, which will also maximize the best public use for this site.
