Nomination of David Korty to the Municipal Golf Committee

April 29, 2013

It is with great pleasure that I respectfully nominate Mr. David Korty for one of the three "At-Large" seats on the newly created Municipal Golf Committee. I feel Mr. Korty is a well qualified and experienced candidate who would be a valuable asset to the Committee in attaining its goals as discussed at the Natural Resources and Culture Committee and City Council meetings.

Mr. Korty holds a master's of science degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Virginia and is cmTently a Senior Manufacturing Engineer for Cymer Inc., and manages a $1.9 million annual capital equipment budget. He is primarily responsible for the development of the manufacturing process for the production ramp in Cymer's Research and Development environment.

Mr. Korty is familiar with the needs of the average golfer that utilizes municipal courses on a regular basis. He grew up learning the game of golf on a number of municipal courses throughout the country and is familiar with San Diego's municipal courses. He feels strongly about providing golfing opportunities for all members of the community and making sure that economically disadvantaged individuals are not denied the chance to play golf on public courses by ensuring access to the game through the availability of tee times to the general public at affordable rates.

I request your support for this appointment to the Municipal Golf Committee. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
