2014 Priorities Economic Development & Intergovernmental Relations Committee Priorities

January 7, 2014

In response to your memorandum of December 19, 2013 regarding my priorities for the Economic Development and Intergovernmental Relations Committee, I offer the following:

1. Consider rule changes and direction to the City Attorney to change the Transient Occupancy Tax (TOT) allocation. Due to the presence of the TMD in San Diego, would like to explore eliminating the dedicated four of every 10.5 cents that the City is obligated to use from the TOT for purposes of promoting the City, and instead direct that those funds be allocated to the general fund.
2. Receive regular updates from our state and federal legislative representation that includes specific information on how they are each performing in regards to the goals and metrics the committee has expressed a desire for them to meet
3. Consider changes to our City Charter that would make San Diego a leader in open government requirements.
4. Establishment of an independent Charter Review Committee to analyze and discuss a number of issues with various City Charter sections that should be addressed.
