What: City of San Diego’s Committee on the Environment will be voting on declaration of Level 2 Drought water restrictions
When:Wednesday, October 8 at 2PM
Where: City Council Committee Room, 12th Floor, City Administration Building, 202 C Street, San Diego
Why: Citing California’s severe drought conditions, Committee Chair David Alvarez, along with Councilmember Ed Harris released a memorandum on September 29, calling for the City to institute mandatory water-saving measures and step up enforcement. The memorandum asks City staff to bring consideration of Drought Level 2 response measures to the Committee on the Environment meeting on October 8, 2014.
A declaration of the ‘Drought Alert’ condition was last implemented in 2009, and is used when a reduction of up to 20 percent is required to meet anticipated demands. The Alert level includes limiting irrigation to certain days and hours and makes water conservation practices mandatory.
