SAN DIEGO (December 5, 2017) – The San Diego City Council today approved an amendment to the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the City of San Diego and the San Diego Police Officers Association (SDPOA) regarding pensionable pay increases. Councilmember Alvarez has issued the following statement:

“I’ve been advocating for several years for additional funding for the San Diego Police Department to help with the issue of recruitment and retention of police officers in our City. Increasing compensation along with a new police chief will provide support to our officers and shape the department’s culture to focus on community-police relations in our neighborhoods and protect our diverse city.
