Councilmember Alvarez hosts Ribbon Cutting for Security Lights at Silver Wing Park

May 2, 2014

SAN DIEGO, CA.  Councilmember David Alvarez joined community members and City staff in celebrating the installation of the Silver Wing Neighborhood Park Security Lights.

“The safety of those that utilize this park is the highest priority,” said Alvarez.  “I continue to use my office savings to invest in the community for necessary public safety infrastructure.”

As part of a two-phase project, the security lights were requested after being included in a list of the community’s needs, as assessed by the Otay Mesa Recreation Council. Silver Wing Park is frequently used by families, children, and the elderly throughout the day and evening. Safety has been a large issue that will now be addressed by replacing and enhancing the existing lights to improve visibility and illumination of walkways.

Councilmember Alvarez has fought to expedite the completion of this project after listening to the needs expressed by the Otay Mesa Recreation Council and community residents.  The Silver Wing Neighborhood Lighting Project was partially funded by Councilmember Alvarez’s office budget ($139,285).
